TE partners with Sustrans to explore walking and cycling improvements

We have partnered with Sustrans to explore how we can support more people to walk and cycle across the East of England.

We have diverse places, from rural farmland, villages and coastal towns all the way to growing urban areas and the edge of London. So, the solutions that work for big cities may not be right for our region.

Together with Sustrans, we will be looking at:

  • Current patterns of walking and cycling journeys across the region, the quality of infrastructure and perceptions of people;
  • The challenges of and opportunities to help more people to walk and cycle;
  • Local case studies where positive changes have been made; and
  • How changes to improve the environment for people walking and cycling can benefit local towns economically.

This work will result in a strategic approach for investment in active travel across the East of England. It will identify potential economic, environmental and social benefits to inform our Transport Strategy and investment decisions. So, as many people as possible can live healthier, more active lives.
